Welcome to the Port Neches Senior Citizen Center, a place to make new friends and renew old acquaintances. At the Senior Center, you will find plenty of fun activities, such as, Monday morning movies with popcorn at 9:30 a.m.; chair exercise on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 a.m.; line dancing on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.; and bingo on Fridays (bring a non-perishable item to play) at 10:30 a.m. We also celebrate birthdays each month with cake. There are numerous seasonal parties (Mardi Gras, Luau, 4th of July, Halloween, Christmas, etc.) with the Geritol Band to entertain us. In the summer, old fashioned homemade ice cream and watermelons are served. The Center has a Wii game system, with bowling tournaments played monthly.
The Center operates under Title III of the Texas Administrative Code (Nutrition Program) and is not based on income level. A well-balanced meal is served at noon Monday – Friday, in a restaurant style setting. Diabetic meals are available. The meals are prepared and delivered by Nutrition and Services for Seniors in Beaumont. A donation of $2.00 per meal is encouraged for age 60 and older (or disabled) and $4.00 per meal for under age 60, however, no one will be turned away. Reservations are required one day in advanced (please order by 11:00 a.m.). Once a month, a special meal is served and a reservation for the special meal is needed two weeks in advance. Transportation is available within Port Neches city limits. The Center is handicapped accessible.
Other programs available are AARP defensive driving, blood pressure screening, and home health information. There is a small library. Flu shots are offered in October. Please call the Center for information and other programs that may be scheduled.
