Fire Chief Paul Nelson

Chief Nelson grew up in Randolph, Wisconsin.  He served as volunteer Fire Chief there from 2006-2007.   He is an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoys  boating, hunting, fishing, and traveling.  He enjoys spending time with his two daughters, Stephanie and Kylee and his son Logan.

Chief Nelson holds a Bachelors of Science in Occupational Safety from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and a Masters of Science in Industrial Health from the University of Michigan.  In addition he has a Certificate in Emergency Management from the University of California-Berkeley-Extension.

Chief Nelson is a member of the following associations:
• Sabine Neches Chief’s Association – Current Fire Director
• International Association of Fire Chiefs
• Texas State Fire Chief’s Association
• National Fire Protections Association

Chief Nelson's goals for the department include the following:
  • Provide professional fire and emergency medical response services for the citizens and visitors of the City of Port Neches.
  • Ensure all department operations are done in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
  • Oversee emergency management functions to ensure citizen and industry safety from all potential natural and man-made disasters.
