Vital Statistics

The City Secretary serves as the Local Registrar and is responsible for the filing of all births, deaths, and fetal deaths that occur within the city limits of Port Neches.  Vital records are confidential by State law and are only issued to qualified applicants – self, mother, father, sibling, grandparent, guardian, or legal representative.

Certified copies of vital records are an exact replica as filed with the Texas Department of Health and are available through the City Secretary.  The City of Port Neches began certifying all vital records in 1958.   For Port Neches birth and death records prior to 1958 please contact the Texas Department of Health or the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office.

Fees for certified copies of vital records are as follows:

  • Birth records – $23.00 for for each copy.
  • Death records – $21.00 for first copy; $4.00 for each additional certificate issued at the same time.
